Troubleshooting the Shark NV360

Just bought a brand new Shark Navigator Lift Away Deluxe Nv360 upright vacuum but something just doesn’t seem right? Don’t worry, we got you! There are about a million things that can go wrong with vacuum cleaners, but this article hopes to address three of the most common problems and show you how to troubleshoot.

Number 1: The vacuum wouldn’t turn on

There might be some problem with the power cord. The power cord needs to be stowed away in a dry, non-heated when not in use. A heated surface might damage the cord.

Check to see if there is any problem along the cord. A broken power cord can be fixed by sealing with duct tape, otherwise, it cannot provide the electricity necessary to power the vacuum.

Tips on how to preserve the power cord

To avoid damaging the power cord, never drag or carry the vacuum by the cord. Never put excessive pressure on it, such as closing a door on it or pulling the vacuum cleaner over it. When unplugging, do not pull by the cord, but the plug. Finally, Shark itself does not recommend using an extension cord as this may transmit an unsuiting electric current.

Number 2: The vacuum is not picking up dirt

There are 3 possible reasons:

#1: The dust cup could be full-- the vacuum would not take on any more dirt than it could contain. Check and empty the dust cup if this is the case.

#2: The filters are blocked by dirt. This happens when your blue shark vacuum has been in use for a while. To solve this, simply detach the filters and clean them. All three filters - the pre-motor foam and felt filter, and the HEPA filter - are removable from the machine, making it light and easy to clean. Run them under water until the water is clear. You must do this by hand, as tossing them in a washing machine might damage the fabric. After cleaning, simply let them air-dry from 24-48 hours.

#3: The hose might be blocked. Similar to the filters, remove the hose to see if there is any blockade inside.

Once all of these gateways have been checked but the vacuum still does not work, check for other blockades elsewhere. Blockades are the main obstacle of air flows, which restrict the suction of the machine.

Number 3: The brush is not spinning

Check to see if the switch on the handle is on the “II - Brush Roll On” mode.

If this does not work, turn off the vacuum right away and check for blockades. Blockades might overheat the motor, which could be dangerous and damaging to the motor. Pull the handle towards you and disengage the floor nozzle to disengage the “Auto-off” feature. Once done, put the nozzle back on, reconnect the vacuum, and make sure to put it on mode II.

Tips on how to make the most of the positions

The “I - Bare Floor” position works best on non-carpet, plain floors like tiles or laminate. This is when the dusting brush does not spin and the vacuum simply sucks the dirt up (straight suction only).

The “II - Brush Roll On” is for carpet - high or low tile - because the brush rolls to pick up dirt and hair. This brush might, however, damage the carpet. If your rugs or carpet are especially delicate, make sure to release the suction power or switch to suction only mode to avoid shredding them.

Above are three of the most common troubles experienced by users of the Shark Navigator lift-away deluxe professional bagless vacuum. If you find this guide useful, please share it to those who need it!
